Your grades never leave your device
Courses, credits, grades, and any names you type are processed by JavaScript in your browser and stored only in your browser's local storage on your own device, so your rows survive a page refresh. They are never transmitted to us or anyone else - GradeKiln has no server that could receive them. Clearing your browser's site data removes them completely.
If you sign up for the cheat sheet
Signing up is optional. If you do, your email address, and nothing else, is held by Kit, the email service we use to send the grade scales cheat sheet and occasional notes about new calculators. We never sell or share it. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and if you want your address erased completely, write to us and it will be deleted.
Local storage this site uses
GradeKiln stores functional data in your browser: your calculator rows (per page), your theme choice (light or dark), and your language choice, kept site-wide. These are functional preferences, not tracking; none of them identify you and none are sent anywhere.
Cookies, advertising, and consent
GradeKiln is supported by advertising served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies or device identifiers to serve and measure ads, and - where you consent - to personalize them. See how Google uses information from partner sites and Google's privacy policy.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland: before any personalized advertising cookies are used, you will be shown a consent message (provided by Google's certified consent management platform) where you can consent, decline, or manage purposes individually. Declining shows you non-personalized ads instead. You can change your choice at any time via the ad privacy link in the message or your browser's site settings.
You can additionally control ad personalization across the web at adssettings.google.com and learn about opting out at aboutads.info.
Your rights
Under the GDPR, UK GDPR, and similar laws - including the CCPA in California, Brazil's LGPD, Canada's PIPEDA and Quebec's Law 25 - you have rights of access, correction, deletion, and objection over personal data an operator holds about you. GradeKiln's design makes most of these moot in the best way: we hold no account, no profile, and no server-side record of you - the only personal data involved in using the calculators lives in your own browser, under your direct control. For anything relating to advertising cookies, the consent tools above are the operative controls, and Google acts as described in its own privacy documentation. If you believe personal data is being processed unlawfully, you may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority (your EU DPA, the UK ICO, Brazil's ANPD, or your provincial commissioner in Canada).
Analytics
GradeKiln counts page views with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookies and does not identify you or follow you across sites. GradeKiln does not collect personal information itself.
Children
The calculators are usable by students of any age precisely because nothing is collected; there are no accounts and no data submission anywhere on the site. GradeKiln is not directed at children under 13, and we knowingly collect no information from anyone of any age.
