Percentage to GPA - Canada
One mark, every table that officially exists for it. OMSAS, U of T and McGill side by side - and a straight answer about the provinces where no table is published.

Alberta: the University of Alberta and the University of Calgary publish no university-wide percentage bands - instructors assign the letters, the letters carry the points. That is a fact about the system, not a gap in this page.
Private by designThe mark goes in, the conversions come out, and nothing leaves this browser tab.
The tables, from the sources
Every value above comes from a published table: OUAC's OMSAS Scale 3 (90-100 = 4.00, 85-89 = 3.90, 80-84 = 3.70, 77-79 = 3.30, 73-76 = 3.00, 70-72 = 2.70, 67-69 = 2.30, 63-66 = 2.00, 60-62 = 1.70, 57-59 = 1.30, 53-56 = 1.00, 50-52 = 0.70), the University of Toronto registrar (same bands, except 85-89 is an A worth 4.0), and the McGill course catalogue (85-100 A = 4.0, 80-84 A- = 3.7, 75-79 B+ = 3.3, 70-74 B = 3.0, 65-69 B- = 2.7, 60-64 C+ = 2.3, 55-59 C = 2.0, 50-54 D = 1.0). McGill also truncates its CGPA - a 3.596 displays as 3.59, never rounded up.
Going the other way - GPA back to percentage - only recovers a band, not a mark: a 3.70 is anywhere in 80-84% under OMSAS Scale 3. Ontario course-by-course averaging lives on the Ontario GPA calculator, the 4.33-scale universities on the Canadian GPA calculator, and the province-by-province picture on the Canadian grading scale page.
Questions this page gets asked
How do I convert a percentage to a GPA in Canada?
With the table of the institution that will read it - Canada has no national conversion. OUAC's OMSAS Scale 3 converts 85-89% to 3.90 and 80-84% to 3.70; U of T's own scale calls 85%+ a 4.0; McGill's calls 85%+ an A worth 4.0. This page runs your mark through each published table side by side.
What GPA is 80% in Canada?
3.70 on OMSAS Scale 3, on U of T's scale, and on McGill's (A-). On York's 9-point scale 80% is an A worth 8. The number depends on the table, which is the point: name the institution before naming the GPA.
How do I convert a percentage to a GPA in Alberta?
You mostly cannot, honestly: neither the University of Alberta nor the University of Calgary publishes a university-wide percentage-to-letter table. Instructors assign letter grades per course, and the letters carry the grade points (A = 4.0, A- = 3.7). For OMSAS, Alberta letter transcripts go through Scale 7.
Can I convert my GPA back to a percentage?
Only to a range. The tables map percentage bands to single points values, so reversing a 3.70 recovers the whole band (80-84% under OMSAS Scale 3), not a mark. Any tool that prints one exact percentage for a GPA is inventing precision the tables do not contain.
What about Quebec's R score?
The cote R is not a grade conversion at all - it is a statistical ranking the BCI computes from your z-score against your class, group strength and dispersion indicators. It depends on how every classmate performed, so no calculator can derive it from your grades alone; only official transcripts carry it.
