A GPA is a credit-weighted average, not a plain one: a 4-credit B pulls harder than a 1-credit A. This calculator multiplies each grade's points by the course's credit hours, sums those quality points, and divides by total credits attempted: the same arithmetic your registrar runs at the end of term. Nothing you type leaves this page.
To project a cumulative GPA, add one extra row named “Prior work” with your total completed credits and pick the grade closest to your current GPA, or better, list the actual courses. Pass/fail courses that carry no grade points should be left out entirely; they change earned credits but not GPA.

Questions this calculator gets asked
How do I calculate my college GPA?
Each letter grade maps to grade points (A = 4.0, B+ = 3.3, and so on). Multiply each course's points by its credit hours to get quality points, add them up, and divide by total credit hours attempted. This calculator does exactly that, live, as you type.
What is a good GPA in college?
Above 3.0 keeps most doors open, 3.5+ is competitive for graduate programs, and 3.7+ puts you in honors territory at most institutions. Context matters: a 3.4 in a hard engineering program reads differently than a 3.4 in an easier one.
Is an A+ worth more than an A?
At most US colleges both are 4.0, which is what this calculator uses. A minority of institutions award 4.3 for an A+ — if yours does, your official GPA will be slightly higher than shown here.
Do pass/fail classes affect your GPA?
Usually not. A pass earns credits but no grade points, so it is excluded from the GPA divisor. Leave pass/fail courses out of the table.
Does retaking a class replace the grade?
Policy varies. Some colleges replace the grade, some average both attempts, some keep both on the transcript. Check your institution's repeat policy before projecting.
Is this GPA calculator free and private?
Free, no signup, and the calculation runs entirely in your browser. Course names and grades never leave your machine; the page works offline once loaded.
