UBC Grade Calculator
Your credit-weighted percentage average on UBC Vancouver's published bands, and an honest answer about the GPA everyone asks you for.
Local onlyEvery calculation happens in this browser tab. Courses and grades are kept in your own browser so they survive a refresh. Nothing is uploaded, and the page keeps working offline.
UBC records two things: a percentage and the letter grade that percentage falls in. UBC publishes the bands used here - A+ 90 to 100, A 85 to 89, A− 80 to 84, B+ 76 to 79, down to D at 50 to 54, and F at 49 and below. Enter each course with its credits and its percentage and the credit-weighted average updates live, with the letter band it currently sits in.
Now the part most calculators skip. UBC does not publish a grade point column. There is no GPA in the Calendar's grading table, and UBC's own guidance says that converting your grades to a 4.0 or 4.33 grade point average requires looking at the scale of whoever is evaluating you. That is not a technicality: an American graduate school, a Canadian professional faculty and a scholarship committee can each convert the same UBC transcript to a different GPA, and all three can be right by their own rules.
So the trustworthy number to carry is the one on this page - your credit-weighted percentage average - reported as a percentage. When a form demands a GPA, use the conversion table published by that specific institution, and say which scale you used. A 4.33-scale figure lifted from a generic converter is the single most common way a strong UBC transcript gets misread.
The scale this page uses

| C+ | 64.0 |
| C | 60.0 |
| C- | 55.0 |
| D | 50.0 |
| F (Fail) | 0.0 |
| Award class | Minimum GPA |
|---|---|
| A+ (90-100) | 90.00 |
| A (85-89) | 85.00 |
| A- (80-84) | 80.00 |
| B+ (76-79) | 76.00 |

| B- (68-71) | 68.00 |
| C+ (64-67) | 64.00 |

These are the percentage-to-letter bands published in UBC Vancouver's Academic Calendar. Note what the Calendar does NOT contain: a grade-point column. UBC records percentages and letter grades, and states that converting to a 4.0 or 4.33 grade point average depends on the scale used by whichever body is evaluating you. So the honest UBC number is the credit-weighted percentage average this page computes; any GPA figure is a conversion applied by a graduate school, employer or professional body, not a number UBC itself issues.

Questions this calculator gets asked
What is UBC's GPA scale?
UBC does not have one. Its Academic Calendar publishes percentage ranges and the letter grades they map to, with no grade point column. UBC's guidance is that converting to a 4.0 or 4.33 grade point average depends on the scale used by the body evaluating you, so the GPA is applied downstream rather than issued by UBC.
What percentage is an A at UBC?
85 to 89 is an A, and 90 to 100 is an A+. An A- runs 80 to 84. Below that, B+ is 76 to 79, B is 72 to 75 and B- is 68 to 71, with C+ at 64, C at 60, C- at 55, D at 50 and F below 50.
How do I calculate my UBC average?
Weight each course's percentage by its credits: multiply percentage by credits, sum those products, and divide by total credits. That credit-weighted percentage is what this page computes, and it is the figure UBC actually holds.
How do I convert a UBC percentage to a 4.33 GPA?
Use the published table of the institution asking for it, because there is no single correct answer. Graduate schools, professional faculties and scholarship bodies each publish their own conversion, and they differ at the boundaries. Quote your percentage average and name the scale whenever a form allows it.
Is a UBC average comparable to a GPA from another Canadian university?
Not reliably. Canada has no national grading scale, so institutions record percentages, 4.0 ladders and 4.33 ladders that share no common ceiling. Comparing raw figures without naming the scale each one came from is how a strong transcript gets misjudged.
Is this UBC calculator free and private?
Yes. No sign-up and no upload. Your courses, credits and percentages are handled by JavaScript in your own browser and never reach a server.
