The 2025+ formula, not the one still circulating

From the 2025 exam, under Thông tư 24/2024/TT-BGDĐT of the Ministry of Education and Training, the graduation score is: ĐXTN = 0.5 × exam mean + 0.5 × transcript average + ĐƯT + ĐKK. The exam mean runs over your papers - Toán, Ngữ văn and two chosen subjects, all on the 10-point scale. The transcript average is the part worth getting right: it is (ĐTB lớp 10 × 1 + ĐTB lớp 11 × 2 + ĐTB lớp 12 × 3) / 6 - lớp 12 counts three times lớp 10. The old 70/30 formula with a flat transcript average is everywhere online and it has been dead since 2025.

Worked example: papers 7.0, 6.5, 8.0 and 7.5 give an exam mean of 7.25. Transcript 7.8, 8.0 and 8.4 gives (7.8 + 16.0 + 25.2) / 6 = 8.17. ĐXTN = 0.5 × 7.25 + 0.5 × 8.17 = 7.71, plus any priority or incentive points. Passing needs two things at once: ĐXTN of at least 5.0, and no paper at 1.0 or below - the điểm liệt rule fails a candidate outright regardless of the average, and this page says so instead of quietly averaging past it.

Three rule changes worth naming because stale pages still claim otherwise: the vocational-certificate bonus is abolished; a foreign-language certificate such as IELTS exempts you from the paper without granting a 10 (leave the paper blank above and the mean adjusts); and bonus points never stack within a category - the highest single entitlement applies. For your university course average afterwards, Vietnam's 10-point and 4-point systems live on the Vietnam grade calculator.

Questions this calculator gets asked

How much does the transcript count for?

Half. ĐXTN = 0.5 × your exam mean + 0.5 × your school average - and the school average itself weights lớp 12 three times lớp 10: (lớp 10 × 1 + lớp 11 × 2 + lớp 12 × 3) / 6.

What is điểm liệt?

Any graduation exam paper at 1.0 or below. It fails you outright, no matter how high the average - a 9.0 ĐXTN with one 1.0 paper is still a fail.

Does the vocational certificate still add points?

No. The certificate bonus was abolished from the 2025 exam under Thông tư 24/2024. Calculators still adding it are running the old rules.

Does IELTS convert to a 10 in the formula?

No. A qualifying certificate only exempts you from the foreign-language paper - the exam mean then runs over your remaining papers. The pre-2024 automatic 10 is gone, and this is the most repeated confusion about the new rules.

What do I need to graduate?

ĐXTN of 5.0 or higher, with no paper at điểm liệt. Both conditions are checked here, and the planner solves the exam mean your transcript requires.

Can priority and incentive points stack?

ĐƯT (priority) and ĐKK (incentive) are separate components and both enter the formula - but within each category only the highest single entitlement applies, never a sum of prizes.
