Turkish universities grade with double letters - AA at 4.0, BA at 3.5, BB at 3.0, stepping down to FF at 0 - and the credit-weighted cumulative is the AGNO (genel not ortalaması). Enter courses and credits below; the AGNO and its honour band update live, with Onur from 3.00 and Yüksek Onur from 3.50 under common usage.

The rule that decides semesters: DC and DD are conditional passes - they count only while your cumulative AGNO holds at 2.00 or above, and slipping below turns them into retakes. It is why Turkish students track the AGNO to two decimals, and why modeling next semester's letters here before course selection is the practical use of this page. Every university's yönetmelik (regulation) states its own version of the conditional rule and honour thresholds.

The double-letter ladder - AA (4.0), BA (3.5), BB (3.0), down to FF (0) - is the common Turkish pattern, credit-weighted into the AGNO. CC is the clean pass; DC and DD are conditional passes that only stand while the cumulative AGNO stays at 2.00 or above. Honour ranges shown (Onur from 3.00, Yüksek Onur from 3.50) follow common usage. BUT CHECK YOUR OWN YÖNETMELİK, because Turkey has no national grading instrument and the variation is not cosmetic. Ankara University, for one, does not use these letters at all: its table runs A at 4.00 for 90-100, B1 also 4.00, B2 3.50, B3 3.25, C1 3.00, C2 2.75, C3 2.50, then F1 at 2.00 and F2 at 1.50, with an A+ above 100 for outstanding work. Read that again - at Ankara an F1 is a FAILING grade worth 2.00 grade points, and the regulation says explicitly that F1, F2, F3 and F4 all enter the average at their coefficients. A calculator that scores every fail as zero will not match an Ankara transcript.

No authority publishes this scale. Turkey has no national letter scale. Each university's own yonetmelik fixes one, and the AA to FF ladder here is the common pattern and the former national standard. Ankara University does not use it at all, which is why this page names the variance. The closest document we hold is Ankara Universitesi, On Lisans ve Lisans Egitim-Ogretim Yonetmeligi. Click for the document we hold. We read it on 3 October 2026. We have read grading documents from all over the world and could not find one that settles this. If you have a link to an official source, send it to us and we will read it and say so here.

Questions this calculator gets asked

How is AGNO calculated in Turkish universities?

Each course's letter value (AA = 4.0, BA = 3.5, BB = 3.0, CB = 2.5, CC = 2.0, DC = 1.5, DD = 1.0, FF = 0) times its credits, summed, divided by total credits. This calculator computes the AGNO live.

What do AA, BA, and BB mean in Turkish grading?

Double-letter grades on the 4.0 ladder: AA is the top grade at 4.0, BA is 3.5, BB is 3.0, and so on down to FF, a fail. The doubled letters are the common Turkish convention, though not a universal one: Ankara University uses its own table with single letters, from A down to F4.

What is a conditional pass (DC/DD) in Turkey?

DC (1.5) and DD (1.0) pass a course only while your cumulative AGNO is at least 2.00. If the AGNO drops below, conditionally passed courses must be retaken - the rule that makes borderline semesters dangerous.

What AGNO earns Onur and Yüksek Onur?

Commonly Onur (honour) from a term GPA of 3.00-3.49 and Yüksek Onur (high honour) from 3.50+, with no FF/DZ that term - exact conditions are in each university's yönetmelik.

How does a Turkish AGNO convert to other systems?

It is already a 4.0 scale, so the number travels directly - a 3.4 AGNO reads as a 3.4 GPA. What needs translating is the letters: list AA/BA grades with their point values for evaluators outside Turkey.

Is this Turkish GPA calculator free and private?

Yes. No sign-up, nothing uploaded - the AGNO is computed in your browser and your grades stay on your device.
