L1R5 Calculator
L1R5 for JC, L1R4 for MI, and all four ELR2B2 types for poly - computed at once, with gross and net kept honestly apart, because eligibility lives on different sides of that line.

Gross for JC, net for poly - the line naive calculators blur
The L1R5 fills six slots: L1 is English or a Higher Mother Tongue; R1 the best Humanities subject; R2 the best of Mathematics or Science; R3 the best remaining from Humanities, Maths or Science; R4 and R5 the best two of whatever is left. Per MOE, JC eligibility requires a gross L1R5 of 20 or better - before any bonus points. Bonus points (CCA Excellent 2 or Good 1, HMT A1-C6 2, Chinese or Malay Special Programme or Bahasa Indonesia A1-C6 2, affiliation 2, capped at 4 in any combination, plus 2 beyond the cap for Language Elective Programme students) only produce the net score posted against each JC's cut-off. Poly flips it: the ELR2B2 threshold of 26 (28 for Nursing) applies to the net score, and poly bonus is CCA only - no HMT, no affiliation. Applying the bonus to the other side moves exactly the borderline students who need the answer most.
Two more rules this page enforces. Same language, one grade: Higher Chinese as L1 bars Chinese from R4/R5, so the calculator scores it both ways, with HMT or with MT, and keeps the better. The HMT bonus is earned by the grade (A1 to C6), wherever HMT sits. And there are four ELR2B2 scores, not one: type A anchors its relevant slots on humanities and arts, B and C and D anchor on Maths and differ in the second slot (humanities for B, sciences for C, sciences plus art and design for D). Principles of Accounts counts in A and B but never in C, and in A it can only fill the second relevant slot; in B, C and D the second slot can never be another Maths; an F9 cannot be used in any ELR2B2 at all. Your four type scores genuinely differ, and which one your course uses is set per course in MOE's CourseFinder - this page shows all four so you stop guessing.
The cohort toggle exists because the rules are mid-transition: the last O-Level cohort posts through the 2027 JAE under L1R5-at-20 and ELR2B2-at-26, and the first SEC cohort posts through the 2028 JAE under L1R4 at 16 for JC (20 for MI), poly at 22 (Nursing 24), and a bonus cap of 3 - with LEP's 2 still outside the cap. From 2028 the poly aggregate also scores your second Best subject (B2) on the G2 scale: A1 to B3 counts 1, B4 to C6 counts 2, D7 counts 3 and E8 counts 4. Pages hard-coded to 20-and-26 will quietly mislead the 2027 cohort's juniors; this one will not. For the university side afterwards, the Singapore GPA calculator covers NUS and NTU.
Questions this calculator gets asked
Is the JC requirement of 20 on my gross or net score?
Gross. Bonus points never make you JC-eligible; they only improve the net score used for posting against a JC's cut-off. Poly is the opposite: the 26 (22 from the 2028 JAE) applies to the net score after CCA bonus.
Can Higher Chinese count as L1 and Chinese as R5?
No. MOE bars both grades of the same language in one aggregate, so this calculator scores it both ways - with Higher Chinese and without Chinese, then the reverse - and keeps the better result. The 2 bonus points for an HMT grade of A1 to C6 apply either way; they do not depend on where HMT sits.
What is the difference between ELR2B2-A, B, C and D?
Only the two Relevant slots differ. A anchors on humanities and arts; B, C and D anchor on Mathematics, then differ in what fills the second slot: B humanities and business, C sciences, D sciences plus art and design. English and the two Best slots are identical across types - and your four type scores genuinely differ.
How low can a net score go?
ELR2B2 gross bottoms out at 5, so with 2 CCA bonus points a net of 3 is real. JC nets below 6 happen at top JCs because up to 6 points (4 capped + 2 LEP) can come off the gross.
Does my F9 count?
For ELR2B2 an F9 cannot be used at all. For L1R5 the slots take your best qualifying subjects, so an F9 is never picked unless you lack six countable subjects - in which case you are not eligible anyway.
I sit O-Levels in 2026 - do the 2028 changes affect me?
No. You post through the 2027 JAE under L1R5 at 20 and ELR2B2 at 26. The L1R4-at-16 and ELR2B2-at-22 rules begin with the 2028 JAE, the first SEC cohort - flip the cohort toggle to see your numbers under either regime.
