Indonesian universities compute the IPK (Indeks Prestasi Kumulatif) on a 4.0 scale weighted by SKS credit units. The common letter set includes the half-steps (A 4.0, AB 3.5, B 3.0, BC 2.5, C 2.0), and most universities still use the predicate lines from the 2020 rule: Dengan Pujian (cum laude) from 3.51, Sangat Memuaskan from 3.01, Memuaskan from 2.76. Two caveats that match how campuses actually work: some universities use A−/B+ letters instead of AB/BC (adjust with the nearest value), and Dengan Pujian usually carries a condition beyond the IPK, such as graduating within the standard time, sometimes with no repeated courses. How is IPK calculated in Indonesia?

What IPK do you need for cum laude (Dengan Pujian)?

Your university sets it. Since Permendiktisaintek 39 of 2025, Pasal 30, the predikat kelulusan follows each university's own criteria. Many still use 3.51, the line from the 2020 rule, and most add conditions, often graduating within the standard study period with no repeated courses. The IPK is necessary, not sufficient.
