One division, done right
A test grade is the score divided by the maximum, times 100: 43 out of 50 is 86%, a B. The top pair above thinks in questions - the test's length and how many went wrong - which is how teachers mark. The bottom pair thinks in points, where 43.5 out of 52 is a perfectly ordinary score, so both fields take decimals with either a period or a comma as the decimal mark. Whichever pair you touched last is the one the answer follows.
Marking a whole stack of papers is a different job: the quick grader mode on the grade calculator prints the percentage and letter for every possible number wrong on a paper of any length, so a class set is one table instead of thirty divisions.

Tests roll up into courses: category-weighted courses live on the weighted grade calculator, quarter-and-exam semesters on the semester grade calculator, and the score a final exam must carry comes from the final grade calculator. Once a term's grades are final, the college GPA calculator turns them into a GPA.
Questions this calculator gets asked
What is my test grade if I got 43 out of 50?
86%, a B on the common scale: 43 divided by 50, times 100. Enter any pair above - right answers out of questions, or points earned out of points possible with decimals - and the percentage and letter compute as you type.
How many questions can I get wrong and still get an A?
On the common scale an A- starts at 90%, so you can miss 10% of the paper: 2 on a 20-question test, 5 on 50. For a whole marking stack, the quick grader on the grade calculator prints the full wrong-count table for any test length.
Does this work with partial credit?
Yes - use the points pair. 43.5 points out of 52 is a real test score, and both fields take decimals with either a period or a comma as the mark.
What letter scale does this use?
The usual US cutoffs: 90 and above is an A, the 80s a B, the 70s a C, the 60s a D, and anything under 60 an F. Inside each band a score ending in 0-2 takes a minus, 3-6 the plain letter and 7-9 a plus, so 87 is a B+ and 83 a B; an A+ starts at 97. Your teacher's syllabus overrides any general table, and courses that curve override it twice.
Is this test grade calculator free and private?
Yes. There is no account to make and nothing to upload: the division happens in your browser, your scores never leave your device, and once the page has loaded it keeps working without a connection.
